This integrated flow prevents redundant data entry and encourages efficient use of resources. The SAP project manager uses this software to make sure that large- and small-scale projects are implemented efficiently, on time, and within budget. It is becoming more important for workers to converge with technology, information, design, and development teams, making the SAP project manager responsible for relaying information between these individuals.

Required Education

At least a bachelor's degree in computer information systems, management information systems, project management, industrial engineering or a related field is typically required for this position. Some may prefer an advanced degree. Additional certification for project management will usually be required, as well.

Required Skills

An SAP project manager will not only need to be experienced with SAP software but business management applications from other vendors. This well-rounded knowledge will most likely come from work experience or school courses. Experience in all aspects of project management will be required for this position, which helps to develop written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. SAP project managers also prepare requests for proposals, oversee team workload, and manage project budget.

SAP software includes Human Capital Management, Production Planning, Materials Management, Project System, Sales and Distribution, Plant Maintenance, Financial Accounting, Quality Management, and Controlling.

Responsibilities

·        Create & manage project plans

·        Define project schedules, allocate resources and monitor progress

·        Align project objectives with company goals, and make sure project team is clear on objectives

·        Deliver and install technology solutions

·        Help project team with the design and development tasks

·        Lead process of issue identification and resolution

·        Manage risk tracking process

·        Monitor and manage scope

·        Manage all documentation

·        Work multiple projects simultaneously

·        Foster partnership with customers/stakeholders/sponsors

Competencies

·        Three or more years project management experience in SAP (IT).

·        ITIL or ITSM certifications preferred. PMP certifications required.

·        Detail-oriented

·        Thrives in collaborative environment

·        Good communications skills, with customers, team and stakeholders

·        Business & IT strategy experience

·        Customer-focused mindset

·        Knowledge of related software tools
